5 Ways to Use the Tombow Advanced Lettering Set

Tombow’s Advanced Lettering Set is perfect for beginner and advanced letterers! Let your customers know about five different things they can try lettering with the Tombow Advanced Lettering Set.

Materials

#1: Practice Pressure Drills

Tombow’s Advanced Lettering Set comes with a Hard Tip Fudenosuke Brush Pen. The Hard Tip Fudenosuke Brush Pen is especially helpful for creating extra thin upstrokes. Since letters are made up of different strokes, it’s very important to practice them!

#2: Blending

This set comes with three Dual Brush Pens (373, 685 and N15) and a Colorless Blender. In order to practice blending, use Dual Brush Pen 373 as the base. Add Dual Brush Pen N15 and 685 on top. Move the color around using the Colorless Blender. You could also use the Tombow Blending Palette and the Tombow Water Brushes to blend. It’s also helpful to use the Tombow MONO Sand Eraser to erase small smudges that appear during lettering and blending.

#3: Outline

Tombow’s Advanced Lettering Set comes with a MONO Twin Permanent Marker. The MONO Twin Permanent Marker has two tips. The broad tip is great for adding shadows. The fine tip is perfect for outlining words. Adding an outline helps your words pop and keeps your lettering looking clean.

#4: Shadow

Use the Soft Tip Fudenosuke Brush Pen to add shadows. Pick either the right or left side of a letter to add your shadows. Be sure to add shadows to the bottom of your letters too. You can also add shadows with the MONO Twin Permanent Marker or a Dual Brush Pen.

#5: Patterns

Use a Hard Tip Fudenosuke Brush Pen to make lines and add outlines to your lettering. You can also create patterns with Dual Brush Pens or TwinTone Markers.
