John C. Wilson, age 67, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2019, in Bloomington, Indiana, after a long illness. He was the owner of Pygmalion’s Art Supplies as well as a dedicated artist and a fine printmaker. An excerpt from his obituary and an article in the local paper highlights his strong presence and lasting impact and on his community.

“He understood the needs and concerns of artists and the importance of supporting both the local arts community and the university art community here in Bloomington. John was educated at the University of Kansas.  He received a BAE in Art Education in 1974, a BFA in Printmaking and Painting in1980, and continued graduate studies in fine arts/printmaking. John taught art for a short while but found his true calling as a buyer and later as a manager of four different art supply stores in the Kansas City area.  After working in retail art supplies from 1980 until 2007, he had the opportunity to buy Pygmalion’s Art Supplies. He had always dreamed of having his own small store in a college community  It was a perfect fit for him and for the store!”
